so-called xmas post
It’s mid-January and I still haven’t got my so-called “holiday seasons post”. All the blogs I’ve gone through have the yuletide stories they’ve shared. Aaaaand now, I got mine! :)
To make it short, this past holiday ‘sesin’ (haha!) was a major difference from all the Christmases and New Years I have had. For one, my family wasn’t able to spend it together – or physically at least. My mom can’t make it up in here because of the errands she needs to get done. And my dad being the gentleman (kunwari) flew back to Palawan on the 24th to be able to with her. Flight got delayed, shuttle to our hometown got delayed as well – in other words he then literally greeted the Christmas on the van/shuttle (what a way to celebrate, huh?!). He arrived on our house past 12 already.
Ours was another story, my tita and her family gets to spend the holiday in here. And it was tooootally FUN! My cousin Jeff, who is six year old, was our toy-slash-mascot-slash-baby!! Darn, it’s good to have a kid at house, na manggulo pagdating mo pero instead n mainis ka.. e matutuwa k n lng sa kanya dahil ang cute nya!
Second, this was my first Christmas also that I haven’t been able to go simbang gabi, even once! Grabe! Di ko na elaborate, basta inabot ng katamaran. Period!
Third, we had a ‘major’ gift to our parents this Christmas. Not just Christmas gift though – it technically involved their 25th wedding anniversary and b-days too. :) I did a lot of preclusion to frappes, Starbucks session, movies, tipid on lunch-outs, shopping and a whole lot more for this. Okay, we gave our parents an all-expense-paid trip to Singapore. Complete with pocket money! Originally it was a 5-days/4nights package but they want it to extend to almost 2 weeks coz they’re planning to visit Malaysia and Indonesia pa. Pero xmpre cla n bahala dun noh! Haha.. Anyway, it was all worth-it naman. We made a scrap book for the presentation, complete with old pictures of them and us. And of course with a touching “piece of writing” composed by me. Haha! Will post it next time pag may time. With their reaction - kahit mejo malaki gastos – it was all worth it, really!
I always had this inkling that Christmas is to be celebrated differently and specially and with what happened to mine, definitely, still had a GREAT Christmas. Never forgetting the true spirit of course.
