Another defeat?
Changing an institutions name to another is quite a process. Reactions and opinions varies, it may also raise eyebrows from a lot of people especially loyal to it. I wonder how a diverse mix of personalities blend and unite well together in this kind of dilemma we're facing. Mapua Institute of Technology will become (or already is) Malayan University. Many have noticed how stubborn "mapuans" were doing nothing in letting the system changed from semestral to quarterm. Now, from what i see, everybody's determined to fight and protest squarely to prevent this from happening. In a way, i can't help myself to be glad, perhaps seeing things in a brighter perspective is the usual me. Unity and togetherness that is.
Don Tomas Mapua.. a very historic name in the field of engineering and architecture. Have done and accomplished a lot. Whatever endeavors he may have, will be althogether carried out by the people and professionals (including me, my sis as well as my father) it erudited. In whatever decision the owners (Yuchengcos) may do. Yes, rights and money (a lot of it) are what they have, but i say respect and deference is the ideal that everyone should have.
Let us sever from the usual mapuan, submissive to changes, accepting everything that comes in. Let us learn to speak up what's in our mind (which i think is right). I'm proud to be a "mapuan", and as what they say, we will together stand in our principles, with clenched fists we'll shout Viva Mapua!!!!
